Lucy!

"Lucy" is the latest SkyDyes creation. The fabric was dyed in Albuquerque NM in Dec '04 / Jan '05. Quite a project!

This is - more or less -what she should look like.

Here we are, preparing to spiral the panels...

The crew - Mike Olmi, Mark McEuen, and Jason Fischer, spiralling away.

A perfect spiral. This will become the parachute top of the balloon.

This is the parachute from below, hanging on the clothesline to dry.

Mixing the dye

Jason Fischer and Patrick Nordstrum "stirring the soup".

Tiedyeing away, while Lela the great dane keeps us company.

A freshly rinsed panel, hanging up to dry.

A pile of dyed panels on the sofa in Jonathan Wolfe's home.

Laying out the panels to see how the diamonds will connect.

Laying out the panels in the park.

Drying some of the smaller panels that will encircle the mouth of the balloon.

Laying out the entire row of huge spirals. Alas, the camera lens is'nt wide enough to see the whole picture.

Looking at the laid out panels from atop a hill in the park.

A close up of the beautiful intricate details in the tiedye.
